What is the Art Echo Project?

Art Echo is a collaborative on-going project between members of the Creative Writing Forum of Luxembourg (CWC), and creative people from many other genres (actors, singers, musicians, dancers) who react to art that they witness in museums and galleries. Art Echo is an independent initiative and in no way does it belong to the CWC.

Thus, Art Echo aims to add the writer's voice to art; a voice, which would engage visitors in a unique and creative way. Like a mirror reflecting an image back, so writers will echo back through their texts what they had seen, sending out a new invitation for reflection and reaction, creating an ever-rebounding Art Echo.

How Art Echo began

Members of the Creative Writing Forum of Luxembourg (CWC) were invited by the Casino, Museum of Contemporary Art to view its current exhibitions, Cantos and Récidive, and to write short, original texts.

As a result, the club teamed up with actors from Pirates and New World Theatre groups and conducted "Art Echo" Tours on 19th and 20th March 2005 based on original writings by members of the CWC, all of which were performed out loud or played from pre-recorded material. This event was part of the "Open Door" weekend at the Casino, which is one of the biggest audience attractors of the Luxembourg cultural calendar. The CWC also sold "Art Echo" booklets at the Casino.

Thank yous…

The CWC would like to thank long standing thank Diana Button for kick-starting the Art Echo initiative in the first place and for dedicating many hours to the organization of the event, along with director Deb Anderson (and as always, her Mr. Fix It, Steve Anderson who has done so much for our group), and Caroline Benali Fuchs. We would also like to extend a big thank you to Deborah Causton, whose graphic skills keep the consortium in gorgeous marketing material.

The CWC would like to extend a special thank you to Bettina Heldenstein for her kind invitation and her warmth and enthusiasm. For more information on the current exhibits go to this.
