“Poetry lifts the veil from the hidden beauty of the world, and makes familiar objects be as if they were not familiar.”

- Percy Bysshe Shelley

Welcome to the poetry page of the Creative Writing Forum. In this section we present poetry by members of the Creative Writing Forum Luxembourg as well as invite people in Luxembourg and abroad to share their poems. Some people adhere to the theory that some of the greatest poetry of the 20th century (and moving into the 21st) can be found in song lyrics, so we include them in this section and invite people to share theirs with us if they so desire (excerpts are welcome as well if writers do not wish to submit an entire piece).

“Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.”
- Jules de Gautier

You are more than welcome to launch a discussion through our forum debating the truth (or lack thereof) of the song lyric/poetry correlation, but be prepared for fanatical lovers of the word from either side of the fence. Poets make fine warriors!

“To have great poets there must be great audiences too.”
- Walt Whitman

Please enjoy the following submissions from our members who have made the decision to share their work. That is what a forum is all about. Please, please, please, respect the copyrights of the authors!

If you are a writer who would like to submit, please feel free to do so using the appropriate submission form. We are interested in your rhyming poetry, free verse, experimental writing, song lyrics, ghazals, sonnets, haiku, etc. Due to limited space of course we cannot post every submission and we will contact you if we do. Writers who live in Luxembourg or former members of the CWC who now live abroad have first priority for publication but to be honest, good, fresh interesting writing is what we are looking for.

“There's no money in poetry, but then there's no poetry in money, either. ”
- Robert Graves

We are a free community. Please note that the Creative Writing Forum does not pay for any submissions.
